I have had an ED for about 10 years or so. I am currently in the NOS
(not otherwise specified) category, 'working' my way from bulimia to
anorexia (a not uncommon progression).
This blog is not
about my eating disorder (though I my talk about it from time to time).
It is not about promoting or glorifying eating disorders (there is
nothing glamorous about them). It will hopefully be a helpful tool with
which to help battle your eating disorder (I certainly hope it will not
turn out to be a detriment to anyone).
I am trying to
deal with my ED largely on my own. I cannot afford a treatment program;
none of those available take my insurance. And my therapist (and all
those in the office) does not treat eating disorders, per se (they just
don't have the program, or the funding, for such an undertaking). This
being the case I admit I am floundering a bit. Alright, honestly I'm not
doing well at all. But this is my attempt. At the very least it will be
here when I'm ready.
Now for the 'food' part in 'Food
for an Eating Disordered Life', because that's what this blog is really
all about. As you might have guessed I have a bit of a problem with
food. That being the case I was interested in finding good (I have an
aversion to words that describe food in a positive manner so 'good' is
the best you will get out of me) food (meals, snacks, entrees, deserts,
whatever) that are 'eating disorder friendly' (low fat, low calorie,
that sort of thing). This is where I plan to collect such recipes (I
will not post a recipe until I have tried it myself so it may take me a
while to get more than a few... money is a little tight *shrug*).
